Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarms

Serving all of your fire protection needs

Fire Extinguishers

Usually the first line of defence, you really want your fire extinguishers to be in top working order should you have to use them.

Maintenance is obviously the best way of keeping them in good condition. And it is also a legal requirement.

We pride ourselves on offering a quality service to each customer, so we therefore do not ask our customers to sign binding contracts. Our employees are not paid on a commission basis unlike our competitors; therefore this will ensure each job is done correctly without having to generate additional work/revenue to meet targets/supplement the engineers income.

We offer two service plans for extinguishers:
  • Low service cost per extinguisher, customer pays for all spares and periodic recharges.
  • Higher service cost per extinguisher, includes standard spares. (Does not include periodic discharge testing, refills of used extinguishers or replacement of damaged parts).

The main advantage of plan 2 above is that it allows you to much more accurately budget for your annual service.

Legal Requirements

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 which applies to virtually all premises other than dwellings, requires that, where necessary in order to safeguard everyone who is lawfully on, or in the immediate vicinity of, the premises, the premises must be equipped with appropriate fire-fighting equipment.

This requirement is supplemented by a requirement to take measures for fire-fighting, adapted to the nature of the activities carried on, the size of the undertaking and of the premises concerned. The necessity of fire-fighting equipment under the Order may arise from the features of the premises, the activity carried on in the premises, the fire hazards or any other relevant circumstances.

Establishment of the need for fire-fighting equipment arises from a fire risk assessment and it is likely to be extremely rare for any fire risk assessment to determine that the provision of such equipment is not necessary.

Types of Fire Extinguisher

Below is a chart depicting the correct extinguisher that should be used on each type of fire;

Fire Chart
Foam Spray
Foam Fire Extinguisher

Foam Spray extinguishers provide a fast, powerful means of tackling class 'A' and 'B' fires.

Highly effective against petrol and volatile liquids, forming a flame smothering seal over the surface and also preventing re-ignition, they are ideal for multi-risk usage.

  • Spray nozzle
  • Squeeze grip operation
  • Corrosion resistant finish
  • Internal polyethylene lining
  • Protective plastic base
  • Kitemarked to BSEN3
  • Complete with bracket
Dry Powder
Dry Powder Fire Extinguisher

Dry powder is a highly versatile Class 'A', 'B' and 'C' fire-fighting medium for most fire risks. In addition to dealing with electrical hazards, flammable liquids and gases, this extensive range of dry powder extinguishers is also effective on vehicle fires.

  • Multi-purpose application
  • Squeeze grip operation
  • Corrosion resistant finish
  • Kitemarked to BSEN3
  • Complete with bracket
CO2
CO2 Fire Extinguisher

Both of the CO2 models have non-conductive, anti-static horns and are suitable for situations involving flammable liquids and electrical hazards. CO2 is harmless to delicate equipment and materials. Ideal for modern office environments, all electrical risks and where oils, spirits, solvents and waxes are in use.

  • Squeeze grip operation
  • Corrosion resistant finish
  • Harmless to machinery
  • Kitemarked to BSEN3
  • Complete with bracket
Water

  • Corrosion resistant finish
  • Internal polyethylene lining
  • Protective plastic base

Fire Signage

We can carry out a FREE survey of your site and produce a detailed quotation highlighting your fire signage requirements. We specialise in large sites, so contact us now.

Emergency situations are stressful for all involved. But with the right signs and directions in place, you can be sure that all the necessary preparations have been taken to ensure the safety of your staff.

Here at Hydro Fire Ltd, we supply all types of fire and safety signs for your business:

  • Assembly point
  • Fire exit
  • Fire door
  • Fire action
  • Fire equipment
  • Fire alarm
  • Fire extinguisher

If your equipment and exits are clearly signposted, it means that your business and staff are better protected from any disasters that should strike.

Fire Exit Signs

If the fire is too large for a simple extinguisher to handle, it is vital that exits are clearly indicated so everyone can get to an assembly point quickly and safely. As a result, we supply fire exit signs, both illuminated and standard.

Please give us a call for more information. We'll be happy to talk through our range of signs so that you can find exactly what you're after.

The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996 came into force on April 1 1996, and relate to the use of fire safety signage in the workplace.

The regulations apply to all places and activities where people are employed and require employers to provide specific safety signage whenever there is a risk that has not been avoided or controlled by other means.

The fire safety signage Regulations state that:

  • Employers must use safety signs wherever there is a risk to health and safety which cannot be controlled by other means
  • Safety signs must be of a specified type
  • All signs must contain a pictogram; text only signs are no longer acceptable
  • Signs must be properly maintained and adequately lit
  • Employers must ensure that signs are understood by employees

Fire Risk Assessment

As you may already know, since October 1st 2006 all businesses in the UK must have a valid Fire Risk Assessment that complies with the Fire Safety Order.

We can help you bridge the gap between the new law and compliance in a cost effective way! Our consultancy starts from £175. Here's how it all works:

Step One

Contact us and we will arrange for a trained and qualified Fire Safety Professional to visit your site and discuss your fire strategy with you. They will then carry out a Fire Risk Assessment of your premises.

Step Two

The report will then be compiled. The same consultant will revisit you and discuss the findings of the report and any contraventions that need addressing. They will then offer workable and cost effective solutions that will help you comply with the relevant regulations and standards. This is a unique offering! We do not just post the report through to you and expect you to interpret and action the points on your own!
